Title of Presentation: Photoelectrons from the mineral and microbial world: A new perspective on the interactions between geosphere and biosphere
Dr Anhuai Lu is a professor at Peking University, where he firstly set up the discipline of Environmental Mineralogyin China and has served as the Director of Research Center for Geomaterials and Environment since 2000. He obtained his BSc at Peking University in 1984, his MSc and PhD from China University of Geosciences, Beijing in 1987 and 1993 respectively. As the chief scientist, he has twice lead a multidisciplinary research group participating in one of China's most important basic research program (973 program) since 2007.
Anhuai Lu is the Ordinary Councillor of IMA, Chairman of the Commission on Environmental Mineralogy of China. He is also the Editorial Board Member of "Elements". As a first guest editor, he published a special issue entitled with "Minerals, Microbes and Remediation" in Elements of Vol. 8, No.2, 2012.
His current research areas include interactions between mineralogy and biology, remediation of wastewater and mine tailings, and mineralization in human bodies. His talk will focus on the interactions among minerals, microbes and environment.
