IMA2014 touring China

During the first half of July 2013, the chairs of the organising and scientific committees had the privilege of visiting  China, in advertising the IMA2014 conference. This came at the kind invitation of Peking University. Four institutions were visited, at which the conference was promoted: China University of Geosciences and Peking University in Beijing, Nanjing University, and the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, CAS. In addition, the ICAM 2013 conference in Mianyang, Sichuan Province, provided a good opportunity to interact with colleagues in applied mineralogy, and promote IMA2014, for which the organisers are thanked.

A large amount of interest was generated in IMA2014, not least because Beijing has previously played host to the 1990 IMA conference. The visits provided a wonderful opportunity for scientific and cultural exchange, and we look forward to welcoming our Chinese colleagues to South Africa in 2014.
